Summary
In order to be admitted to the two-year Master’s degree in Global and Local Studies applicants are required to have a Bachelor degree and to match specific academic requirements.
Italians, European citizens and non-European citizens living in Italy apply by requesting the verification of admission requirements as specified on this page.
Non-European citizens not living in Italy need to apply within a dedicated call for admissions, which is usually open from December to March. Info and deadlines are published at Call for admission - Application procedure - Rankings.
Admission requirements for Italians, European citizens and non-European citizens living in Italy
In order to be admitted Italians, European citizens and non-European citizens living in Italy must have:
- an Italian Bachelor's Degree in one of the following 'classi di laurea' (Italian categories): L-36 (Scienze Politiche e delle Relazioni Internazionali), L-37 ( Scienze Sociali per la Cooperazione, lo Sviluppo e la Pace), L-39 (Servizio Sociale), L-40 (Sociologia)
- or an Italian Bachelor's Degree with at least:
- 36 ECTS in the following fields of competence (Italian categories): SPS/04, SPS/07, SECS-P/02, IUS/09, M-STO/04 e
- 12 ECTS in the following fields of competence (Italian categories): SECS-S/04, SPS/01, SPS/08, SPS/09, SPS/10, SPS/11, M-DEA/01, M-GGR/02.
- or a Bachelor's Degree obtained abroad and recognized as appropriate by the course president.
For the admission you need also:
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- graduation grade of minimum 90/110 (or equivalent) or grade average of minimum 24,5/30 (or equivalent grade point average - GPA); with a lower mark you need to pass an admission interview with the course president
- if you are not an Italian citizen: Italian proficiency at B2 level or higher.
Verification of admission requirements
In order to enroll in the course, you must submit the online application form for verification of admission requirements. The outcome will be communicated by email.
You can submit your application even if you have not graduated yet.
Documents required for evaluation are specified on the application form.
If you do not meet the educational requirements
If you do not meet all the educational requirements you can take the needed exams within the deadline for enrolment by registering to single classes for Master's Degree courses.
Once you have achieved all the educational requirements, write an email to the Student support service in order to proceed with the enrolment.
If you do not meet the language requirement
If you do not meet the language requirement, you can take an English proficiency test at the Language Centre (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo - CLA).
The written part will be held in-person at the Language Center, while the speaking part will be held online.

Once you have achieved the language requirement, write an email to the Student support service in order to proceed with the enrolment.
Interview
If your graduation grade is lower than 90/110 (or equivalent) or your grade average is lower than 24,5/30 (or equivalent grade point average - GPA) you need to pass an admission interview with the course president.
The Student Support Service will put you in contact with the president via email, you will arrange with them when and how.
If your graduation grade is 90/110 or higher (or equivalent) or your grade average is 24,5/30 or higher (or equivalent) you do not have to take the interview.
