If you can not attend the studies for a certain period of time during your university career, you have two options, starting with the second year of enrollment, based on your reasons:
- Temporary suspension
- Interrumption of studies
Temporary suspension of studies
You can temporarily suspend your university career for

During the temporary suspension for at least one academic year:
- you are not allowed to carry out any activities related to take take any exams
- you will lose all benefits you used to have
- no fees are due
- the period of suspension of studies will not be included in the period used to calculate the loss of student status
However, if you have been temporarily suspended for a period less than the acedemic year, you will need to pay:
- 50% of the university contribution variable rate
- the university contribution fixed rate
To request the suspension or interruption of studies, you have to fill in and send the application form (Modulo sospensione o interruzione degli studi UniTrento) to the Students Support Service of your Department
Interruption of studies
The interruption of studies is possibile for at least two consecutive years
You can interrupt your studies for any reason, only once in your career.
The interruption is automatic, without any request.
During the interruption:
- no fees are due
- you are not allowed to carry out any activities related to take take any exams, nor register any credits
- you will lose all benefits you used to have
- The period of interruption of studies will be included in the period used to calculate the loss of student status
in case you wanted to activate your career again, you will have to pay, beside the tuition fees for the year of enrolment, an additional fee of € 200,00 for each year of interruption.
